Prof. Dr. Gabriele Antonini had the honor of personally greeting His Holiness Pope Francis on the airport tarmac, shortly before the Pontiff’s departure for his historic first apostolic trip to the African continent.
This six-day mission, which touched Kenya, Uganda and the Central African Republic, was defined by the Holy Father as a pilgrimage aimed at spreading a profound “message of peace and reconciliation” in lands marked by conflict and poverty. Prof. Antonini, a direct witness of this moment of great spiritual and institutional fervor, took part in the official delegation that accompanied the take-off of the papal flight, a symbol of hope and dialogue between peoples.
