Professor Gabriele Antonini recently went to Cairo for an intense training and advanced training program dedicated to penile prosthetic surgery. The initiative, organized together with Doctor Osama Ghattas and Doctor Ahmed Elnakeeb, represents an important step in the diffusion of the most modern techniques of penile prosthetic implantology in the Middle East.
During the scientific mission, 15 implants of three-component hydraulic penile prostheses were performed, allowing participants to directly observe the surgical procedures and to delve deeper into the technical aspects that have made the method developed by Antonini an international point of reference.

During the operating sessions, Professor Antonini illustrated his minimally invasive infrapubic technique, perfected over the years thanks to the experience gained from a large number of operations and important international training periods carried out at centers of excellence, including advanced training in Miami with Professor Paul Perito, one of the world pioneers of penile prosthetic surgery.
The technique allows for a significant reduction in operating times, allowing the implantation of the prosthesis in approximately 15 minutes in cases selected, with the aim of minimizing surgical trauma, optimizing postoperative recovery and maintaining high safety standards.
Particular attention was dedicated to infection prevention strategies, one of the most important aspects in modern prosthetic surgery, and to the search for the best aesthetic and functional result for the patient.

New collaboration between Antonini Urology and the Dar El Zokora group, directed by Doctor Osama Ghattas

The training days saw the participation of numerous specialists, fellows and young urologists interested in learning more about the most advanced techniques in the treatment of erectile dysfunction using prosthetic implants. Participants were able to follow the entire surgical process, from patient selection to surgical preparation, up to postoperative management and follow-up.
The high number of procedures performed in a few days allowed different clinical scenarios to be addressed and the strategies adopted to obtain reliable and reproducible results even in the most complex cases.

One of the most important results of the visit to Cairo was the official start of the collaboration between Antonini Urology and the Dar El Zokora group, directed by Doctor Osama Ghattas.
The common objective is to further develop penile prosthetic implantology in Egypt and create a regional point of reference for advanced surgical training in the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
The synergy between the international experience of Professor Antonini and the prestigious Egyptian medical group will make it possible to promote refresher programmes, research activities and training initiatives aimed at specialists from all over the Middle East.

As evidence of the solidity of the collaboration initiated, Professor Gabriele Antonini has officially joined the scientific board and the medical committee of Dar El Zokora.

This is a prestigious recognition which confirms the international role achieved by the Italian surgeon in the sector of penile prosthetic implantology and further strengthens the scientific relations between Italy and Egypt.
The presence of Antonini within the scientific committee will contribute to the development of new clinical protocols, training programs and research initiatives aimed at improving the standards of care for patients suffering from severe erectile dysfunction.

In recent years, Professor Antonini has consolidated a network of collaborations involving Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and other important international centres. The surgical teaching activity, participation in conferences and continuous discussion with the world’s leading specialists have contributed to making Antonini Urology a point of reference for penile prosthetic surgery.
The Cairo experience represents a further step in this international journey and confirms how the sharing of knowledge and best surgical practices is fundamental to guarantee patients increasingly effective, safe and innovative treatments.
With the birth of the collaboration with the Dar El Zokora group, a new phase of growth opens for penile prosthetic implantology in the Middle East, with the aim of spreading high surgical standards and offering patients the best therapeutic opportunities available internationally.
