Antonini protagonist in the operating room at AndroSud: live prosthetic surgery intervention at the Cardarelli in Naples
Doctor Antonini was among the protagonists of the annual edition of AndroSud, the prestigious meeting dedicated to andrology which has been held for over fifteen years at the Cardarelli Hospital in Naples, a point of reference for scientific comparison between specialists from all over Italy.
Invited by Professor Maurizio Carrino, director of the Andrology Unit of the Cardarelli Hospital in Naples, Dr. Antonini performed penile prosthesis implantation with an infrapubic technique in direct surgery (live surgery), in front of an audience of experts in the sector.
The patient, a 50-year-old man suffering from diabetes, underwent the operation with an aesthetic and functional result considered excellent. The operation also stood out for its speed of execution: the implant was completed in approximately 15-20 minutes, a particularly short time which represents an important element in this type of surgery, since a reduction in operating times can help limit the risk of complications, including infections. Already on the first post-operative day the patient presented excellent clinical conditions and was able to familiarize himself with the prosthetic device, confirming the regular course of the operation.
Performing penile prosthetic surgery in live surgery represents a challenge of a high technical level: every phase of the operation is observed and analyzed by expert colleagues, making it necessary to combine surgical precision, speed and safety. In this context, Dr. Antonini once again demonstrated his experience in penile prosthetic implantology, receiving the appreciation of the numerous specialists present at the congress. The infrapubic technique, when performed by expert hands and in carefully selected patients, allows rapid and effective surgical access, favoring reduced operating times and early post-operative recovery.
Participation in AndroSud confirms the role of Doctor Antonini in the main scientific events dedicated to andrology and penile prosthetic surgery, contributing to the diffusion of the most modern techniques and to continuous comparison with the national scientific community.
