“L’urobioma è il microbiota della vescica, ossia il complesso di importanti microrganismi che ne colonizzano l’ambiente”

Il microbiota vescicale delle donne adulte continentali.

È stato caratterizzato il microbiota vescicale (urobioma) di un gruppo di controllo di 224 donne continentali, dimostrando variabilità in termini di urotipo. L’urotipo più comune odentificato il Lactobacillus (19%), che non differiva con nessun dato demografico. Al contrario, gli urotipi di Gardnerella ( P  <0,001) ed Escherichia ( P  = 0,005) erano più comuni rispettivamente nelle donne più giovani e più anziane.

“Nelle donne adulte continentali la composizione del microbioma vescicale differisce in base all’età, con rilevanza per la pratica clinica”

 Per la ricerca sull’urobioma, i metodi di coltura avanzati e/o il sequenziamento del DNA sono le tecniche preferite per il rilevamento dei batteri. L’interpretazione dei test clinici, come l’urinocoltura standard, dovrebbe incorporare la conoscenza che alcune donne hanno urotipi di Gardnerella o Escherichia senza evidenza di alcun disturbo clinico.

Le strategie di cura clinica dovrebbero preservare o ripristinare gli effetti benefici dell’urobioma nativo, poiché l’interruzione di quella comunità microbica potrebbe comportare una vulnerabilità involontaria all’invasione dell’uropatogeno o una crescita eccessiva di patogeni opportunisti. In conclusione dovrebbero essere incoraggiati gli studi longitudinali sulle risposte dell’urobioma alle terapie.
